It is my privilege to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Zach Ratcliff. Zach is one of the most recognized student-athletes in the State of Ohio as well as the region .
It should be noted that Zach excels not only at baseball, but on the basketball court and football field as well. His dedication, versatility, and determination have led him to success on the varsity level at all three sports since his freshman year. While playing each of these sports, he is recognized as a leader amongst his peers.
In the summer, Zach plays at the highest level of competitive, travel baseball. This sort of environment brings out both the best and worst in young athletes. Fortunately, Zach is able to balance his important competitive nature along with the importance of sportsmanship. This is reflected on a routine basis with his interaction amongst his teammates as well as opposing teams. Likewise, at all times, he always gives the utmost respect to opposing coaches as well as umpires.
Here is an excerpt from an email I recently received from Sherri Dillon the Dean of Students at Columbus Academy. “It’s easy to recognize the athletics and academics and acknowledge those with awards for their exceptional accomplishments, and sometimes, I believe, the little things in life that really matter don’t get the deserved recognition. What about the student who comes to school every day with a smile, does his best, treats everyone with kindness and respect (teachers included), and IS REALLY AN ALL AROUND NICE PERSON who will do anything for anybody!

Believe me, when it comes to Zach, it doesn’t go unnoticed! The other day, I witnessed Zach’s behavior towards a freshmen who is easily a third Zach’s size, has no athletic ability, and obviously looks up to Zach – not only for his athletic talents, but his warm and genuine friendship that he offers to all. Zach has such wonderful “people” skills. He is kind, thoughtful, sincere, and welcoming to all! And – I see it all the time.
Zach has so many wonderful qualities and gifts to offer! I truly commend him for staying tough even though it’s been a challenge at times, but more importantly, I wanted to say that Zach has such strength in character which is valued and respected by many. It will serve him well in the future and in all his endeavors. He is a remarkable and kind young man and I am happy to know him as a student, a friend, and as a member of our community!”
Again, it is my privilege to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Zach Ratcliff. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance. I am confident that Zach will be a valuable member of your event, and a player that your staff will remember for years to come.
