Nat is talented, motivated and conscientious and, most importantly, determined to be successful. Without question he carries himself well beyond his years. If there is one overriding character trait that best describes Nat it would be his work ethic. This work ethic was instilled by his parents when he was younger and has always distinguished him from the rest. Nat made that separation from his teammates very early in his career, whether it was coming early to practice and hitting off a tee, or staying late and working in the fitness center training. In all my years of being a coach and educator, I have never observed a young man with such a remarkable work ethic. Whether it is in school, or on the Baseball field Nat has applied this work ethic in everything he does.

Nat is best characterized as a well-rounded student athlete. He has achieved great academic success, terrific grades in a demanding college preparatory program at Riverdale Country School. There is no limit to what Nat can accomplish; he has the background, fortitude and intelligence to achieve at the highest levels. As a two year captain of the baseball program and four year varsity player, Nat takes charge and has exhibited leadership skills that makes the team have one heartbeat. His passion for competition and his preparation to be the best are truly winning traits. Nat has been a leader on the team even when he was a freshman. Many of his peers looked to him because of his preparation and work ethic. Nat demonstrated that he is able to lead his teammates on and off the field.

I can continue to boast about Nat as a person, a student and baseball player, but there are few individuals whom I have coached who are able to impact his peers, teachers and coaches. Nat is one of those few! Over the past five years, I have witnessed a young boy transform into a responsible adult and perceive a sensitive, thoughtful, young gentleman and not the stereotypical high school adolescent that we are accustomed to hearing about all too often. Nat Irving is the caliber of a young man that any parent would be proud to have as their own. He sees life as a wonderful opportunity and knows where he would like to be in the scheme of things. His integrity, manners, concern for others and enthusiasm make me especially pleased and proud to write this letter on behalf of Nat Irving.
