Head Coach Todd Fitz-Gerald is entering his 22nd season coaching high school baseball, his 16th in the role of Head Coach. This is his sixth season at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as Head Coach of the Douglas Eagles Baseball program. Coach Fitz-Gerald comes with an impressive reputation and highly successful career, having served as Head Coach for ten seasons at his own alma mater, American Heritage. During his coaching, career, Coach Fitz-Gerald led his teams to an impressive overall record of 350-98.

Coach Fitz-Gerald’s teams have been in the state playoffs for fifteen consecutive years. During that time his teams have won twelve district titles, four regional championships, National and State titles in 2008 and 2016. They have been ranked in the top 50 teams in the country nine of those years. Coach Fitz-Gerald has been named ‘Coach of the Year’ eleven times in the past 15 years and National Coach of the Year twice. He was awarded National High School Baseball Coach of the Year in 2008 by Baseball America, USA Today News, and the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association). In 2016 he was awarded National Coach of the Year by Max Preps. In addition, to those prestigious recognitions, Coach Fitz-Gerald is proud that 18 of his players have been drafted in the professional baseball draft with his most notable players, 1st baseman for the Kansas City Royals, Eric Hosmer, and Adrian Nieto catcher with the Chicago White Sox.
