Macks Wins Exciting 13U Home Run Derby, Sweeps 13U Awards

al-macks-hits-post-2016txAiden Macks claimed the 13U Futures Home Run Derby Champion on Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. With 12 home runs, he won the event in thrilling fashion, topping John Ramos’ nine home runs as the final batter of the final round.

Macks blasted two straight balls over the major league fences to pull within one of Ramos’ total and hit a third-consecutive with 12 outs to move into a tie for first. On his final out, he hit a 384’ home run to clinch the title and tacked on two more before completing his session.

The Alabama native swept the 13U awards, including the longest distance in the finals (415’) most consecutive (4), most overall (19) and the most home runs in the preliminary round (7).
Macks was given the Colossus of Clout Award for the longest home run overall with his 415’ shot in the final round. The award is a replica of and named after the moniker given to the 40-inch, 54-ouncebat Babe Ruth used in game play from 1916-22.

He added two more with one out and reached seven with only three outs. Ramos struggled down the stretch, only recording two home runs over his final 12 outs.
