JD has worked with me since he was in 7th grade and developed quickly enough behind the plate that he was doing 18u events before he stepped foot in high school.  He has played at a high level since then and has performed well at multiple PG events over the summer and fall.  He has all the tools to have a long career beyond college.  His strength levels caught up with him last spring and has continuously put up solid power numbers during the last year.  Characterwise, he is the type of kid I would let date my daughter and all of his teammates continually state what a great kid he is.  Same goes for his parents who are extremely supportive and loving.  JD helps out younger kids and is capable to teaching the game to them as well.

ny JD ANDREESSEN JD has partnered with William Lucas for Home Runs that Help

William Lucas, from Tonawanda New York, is a 6 year old in Kindergarten at Thomas Edison Elementary School and has 2 proud parents, Kerri and Tom Lucas, and a 1 and 1/2 year old sister named Clarissa.

William loves to play baseball.  He played for the Pirates in The Miracle League of Grand Island and Western New York, an organization that helps children with disabilities play baseball. He is a strong boy who is empathetic, caring, outgoing and full of energy.  Besides baseball, William enjoys playing outside, reading, playing board and card games.

Born premature on October 20, 2007 at 24 weeks gestation at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, NY, William weighed 1 pound, 10 ounces.  William remained in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for the next 6 months until March 3, 2008.

William was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus due to a brain bleed at birth.  As a result, he has had multiple neurosurgeries, 16 to be exact, and is shunted with 3 shunts.  All of his surgeries were performed by Dr. Li at Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY.  Each surgery required a lengthy hospital stay followed by 6 week recovery period.

In addition, William had other health complications including a bowel perforation which required an additional 2 surgeries leaving him with an ostomy bag for the first year of life.  William required a PDA ligation surgery to close a valve in his heart and suffers from a Weakened Immune system and Kidney Reflux.  William also wears bilateral hearing aids for Hearing impairment.William receives Special Education services, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Vision Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy daily within the school program. He also receives adapted physical education and has a teacher for the deaf/hearing impaired.Despite the many obstacles that William has endured in his young life, he loves being silly and telling jokes to make people smile. He handles every situation with a positive attitude and is an inspiration to others.
The Baseball Mini-Camp that JD conducted on Saturday, December 21st was a big success! We were very happy to raise over $2000 for The  Miracle League of Grand Island and Western New York on behalf of JD’s Homeruns that Help partner, William Lucas.
