I have been around Josh for a number of years as an instructor, and also as his head coach during his career with Team Connecticut Baseball.Josh is the style of player that you would want on any team. He is a quiet leader who goes about his business on the field with a tenacity that is unmatched. He is very coachable, the type of player who will take what you tell him and immediately make an adjustment.  Through my years coaching I can say that this attribute separates him from many of his peers. He is the type of player that competes no matter what scenario he is in. Whether on the mound or at the plate, he plays with a fire that you do not come across on a daily basis. He wants the ball in the biggest, toughest spots, and at the plate is more than willing to do what needs to be done to put his team in the best scenario to win. That type of selflessness and will to win are the things that have pushed Josh to great lengths in his maturity. I have watched him develop from a quiet on the field leader, to a teammate that will drive his peers and do what needs to be done to keep everyone on the same page.As a coach, seeing a player’s potential and skill set grow with every year shows the players hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport of baseball.  Josh is a great person, teammate, and player that any coach would love on his team.  It has truly been an honor and privilege to coach and be a part of Josh’s baseball.

CT - JOSH SIMPSON
ct josh simpson Josh has partnered with Shane for Home Runs that Help

Shane Simpson is a deaf, autistic nine year old boy. He has two deaf parents, Keely and Scott Sr., and an older brother Scott Jr. Shane uses American Sign Language to communicate and goes to Willie Ross School for the Deaf. He loves to dance, despite not being able to hear the music. He loves animals of all kinds; he has a dog that is also deaf, fishes, frogs and bugs, but still wants more animals as pets. He is so obsessed with tigers and lions that he even wants them as pets someday. When he grows up, he wants to own a farm and a zoo. He is a boy who is always laughing and doing something to make people around him laugh. Shane is definitely a boy who always proves people wrong about him and his disabilities. He doesn’t think of himself any differently than all of his family or friends.

Most of all, Shane loves sports, as he plays on a team for the Greater Springfield of Special Olympics in Western Massachusetts doing track and field, and playing soccer and bowling. His family is so grateful for his team, as he has blossomed as a person playing sports with his peers. He has won five gold medals among others. The Special Olympics gives him a place to do what he loves the most and to feel accepted. His parents also volunteer for the Special Olympics, as they want to give back to the wonderful organization that has done so much for their son. Shane is Josh’s cousin.
