ca TRAVIS MC FARLAND HOME RUNS THAT HELP Travis has partnered with the Albaugh Boys for Home Runs that Help

I’m reaching out to my community and partnering up with a local baseball fan that is suffering from a life-threatening medical condition, disability or special need and raise financial contributions for their cause. I was very fortunate to have identified two phenomenal kids; James and Jayden Albaugh.

Both James and Jayden have changed my heart and meaning to life. All my  home run hits at the showcase show down will be dedicated to the boys, but more important, I am determined to help raise as much funds as I can to help with the research in prolonging their lives, for their parents, and other families that have to go through the fears of No cure, and possibly a child’s death.

James and his little brother Jayden are both suffering from a progressive muscle wasting disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is irreversible, progressive, and terminal. Currently, DMD is causing the muscles in both boys legs to weaken and deteriorate, ultimately, making long distance walking, such as across the playground, extremely difficult. Although both boys are still currently able to walk, James has begun to fall more often and limits his involvement in activities. The prognosis is that James will be in a wheelchair within the next two to four years, paralysis will eventually eliminate his ability to feed himself or hug others, and this disease will eventually take his life by his mid-teens.  The Albaugh Family never new such disease existed until it entered their lives… On July 19, 2012, my wife and I learned that both James and Jayden were diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).  Like most people, we had no idea what DMD was. Very quickly we learned about this catastrophic disease and the way in which it will slowly rob the boys of their life dreams.  The diagnosis of our two boys having DMD has put fear in our lives, and an unknown road ahead for our family. We do know there is no cure for DMD, having very limited treatment availability. Recently, research has made great strides with trial medications that are pending FDA approval, to slow down the deterioration and prolong walking for some with DMD. Unfortunately that medication will not benefit our boys as they suffer from a rare gene mutation. Knowing this, it gives our family a life mission to raise awareness, and money via TEAM ALBAUGH, for research to save our boys. Without funding, a cure could miss James and Jayden’s lifetime – so for this family it is a race against time
