CA JESSE GARCIA POWER SHOWCASE FUTURE STARS CHAMPIONCalifornia’s Jesse Garcia Wins The Inaugural Future Stars POWER SHOWCASE

Jesse Garcia watched the baseball sail far and deep and his heart jumped as the thought came into his mind that he had just won the POWER SHOWCASE.The 14-year old from California connected for a shot that traveled 397 feet for his ninth home run, breaking a three-way tie to best his three fellow competitors and win the inaugural Future Stars showcase at Marlins Park during the eighth annual POWER SHOWCASE. The hit came as Garcia was down to only two outs remaining, and it came after he had a slow start before finding his groove.

“I’m amazed. I’m in shock. I just can’t believe it right now; it’s a great feeling,” Garcia said. “I stepped back and thought about my mechanics, and then I got my timing down. This is the biggest thing I ever won in the world. It just feels awesome.”

FUTURE STARS

Jesse Garcia is a very unique player. Jesse has enormous power for his age. He is already able to hit home runs over high school level fields with a wood bat. He was hitting balls over the high school fences with an aluminum bat at 12 years old. He also has power to all fields and can hit home runs to all parts of the field on field dimensions for his age group. Most home run hitters are known to strikeout a lot and usually not hit for an high average. Jesse is the total opposite of this power hitter stereotype. Added to his Home run power, he hits for an above to high average and is very hard to strikeout. Since he has a lot of power to the opposite field, he has a lot of confidence and ability to have a two strike approach, and goes the other way with authority and at times with home run power.

Defensively, his best asset at first base and catcher are his hands. At First base, he has adequate to above average range in fielding ground balls.  He vacuums ground balls, and sucks up bad throws that are thrown to him with great picking abilities.  When he is catching behind the plate, he receives very well,  and is a pick master with balls in the dirt with adequate to above average blocking abilities. Jesse’s personality is quite and stoic. He has internal emotions that he keeps more to himself, but can show some fire and motivation externally when we needs to compete. He is a competitor and he competes to win. He has won many championships, awards, Home Run Derbys, and other baseball accolades. He would for sure be on my team if I coached an elite team for his age group.
