Ryan has partnered with Jet Fearing for Home Runs that Help

Jet was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2012 at the age of 9. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an incurable, autoimmune disease, not a lifestyle disease. The other, being the loss of normalcy, and a permanent state of hyper-vigilance with the finger pricks, carb counting, ketone checks, and insulin injections. Despite these challenges, Jet has continued as a competitive cheerleader with the California Allstars. Being an athlete requires stringent blood sugar management enabling her to sustain long enduring practices and traveling with her team.
However, Jet is determined to focus on the positive, enjoy her life and pray for a cure.

I choose Jet Fearing in addition to JDRF because I feel they are on the right path to discovering a cure. Type 1 diabetes is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people-a large and growing percentage of them children. Each child affected by this disease has to endure 5-6 shots of insulin daily to combat their non-functioning pancreas. Many people think Type 1 diabetes can be controlled by Insulin. While insulin does keep people with Type 1 diabetes alive, it is not a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with diabetes, there are many severe, often fatal, complications by the disease. I feel there is a cure within reach for Type 1 diabetes.
