College Select Classic – SCHEDULE & FORMAT 2017 
The event will be Steamed/Broadcast LIVE on the Home page each and every day.
Tuesday, December 26th 
PLAYER CHECK-IN – Hilton Hotel – Downtown Miami – 1601 Biscayne Blvd
The Hilton charges a parking fee. 
Park across the street at Burger King/ Checkers or
1 block away is a Publix grocery store – park in that lot or the rooftop parking.
2:00pm to 9:00pm Player Check-in Hilton Hotel – Downtown Miami – 1601 Biscayne Blvd.
Players will receive their uniform and pick/choose their POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby batting order.
LATE ARRIVAL – For players that arrive after 9:00pm – your number will be picked and your uniform will be placed in your bag and will be waiting for you on Wednesday morning in the First Base Dugout.

 There is NO fee to enter Marlins Park
PARKING – There is minimal fee – make sure to bring your ticket with you into the stadium. There are several kiosks throughout where you can pay and validate. 
Food – Concessions will be closed – Coolers Food/Drinks are allowed – There is a Subway and Wendy’s near by. No Alcohol Allowed!
Entrance – 7:30am – Players/Parents will enter through the Diamond Club Entrance morning/day.
Wednesday, December 27th 12:00pm to 5:00pm – MLB Scout Day & Welcome Dinner 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Player’s will check-in with their Head/Assistant Coach’s at the Diamond Club Entrance (10 minutes before your scheduled meeting time) and walk together to your meeting areas. There will be visible signs and Marlins staff to help guide you to your designated locations.  
12:15pm to 12:45pm – Team Meetings – College American
Location: Visitors Clubhouse – Head Coach Doug Jennings
12:45pm to 1:15pm – Team Meeting – College National
Location: Visitors Clubhouse – Head Coach Eddie Gonzalez
1:30pm to 2:30pm – BOTH TEAMS Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper – Location: Marlins Media Room – Mandatory For Parents & Players
3:00pm to 5:00pm – Scout Day – Pittsburg Pirates – Nick Presto
7:00pm to 10:00pm – Welcome Dinner – Location Marlins Park
Thursday, December 28th – HOME RUN DERBY – PRELIMINARY ROUND – 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

Each player will receive a total of 5-minutes, which will be broken into two rounds. Player’s will also receive a chance with the Spalding Gold Bonus Ball(s). If the player hits the ball for a home run, he will receive another one until he makes an out. 
Three-Minutes with a wood bat
Thirty-Second Time Out / Break
Two-Minutes with a metal bat (BESR bats allowed)
BONUS:  Each player will receive one Spalding Gold Money Ball. If the ball is hit for a home run, the player will receive another until he makes the final out.
BP Throwers – During the College Select Home Run Derby – Each participant can bring their own BP thrower for the competition. If he does not have one, we will have several professional throwers on hand.
The top two finalists will advance to the Championship Round on December 30th.

*WILDCARD – If a Player hits the furthest Home Run and does not finish in the top two, he will also advance to the finals on December 30th.


FYI – The actual start time may vary slightly do the younger age group hitting beforehand.
FINALS: The top two finalists from each age group will advance to the Championship Round on December 30th and compete for the World Title – 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Finalists will check-in with Jerry Gonzalez in the Visitors Clubhouse at 1:30pm.
12:00pm to 5:00pm – Player Check-in with Coach Jerry or Eddie Gonzalez in the third base dugout.

 keep in mind that the starting time might vary slightly because of the Home Run Derby taking place beforehand.

Introductions/National Anthem
 – Simply do to time constraints, we will not have individual introductions. There are 35 participants – 17 First & 18 Third.

Friday, December 29th – OFF 
Saturday, December 30th – Mental Strength Session, POWER SHOWCASE Finals & Game
1:00pm to 2:00pm – Mental Strength Session Michael Cooper – Mandatory for Parents & Players
2:00pm to 6:00pm – POWER SHOWCASE Finals

College Select Game – 7:00pm to 11:00pm

Coaches, kindly have your (three) line-up cards filled out and ready to be handed in one hour before your scheduled game time. 
FYI – There is a three-run max per-inning. Teams will simply switch.  Players will be rotated every inning, for fair and equal playing time.
Again, the starting time of the Babe Ruth Classic will depend on the completion of the 14U Home Run Derby. The game will begin exactly 30 minutes after.
