Nic is hands down, one of the premier 12 year old hitters in the state of Maine. Nic is a big, strong, athletic young man that swings from the right side. He is a student of the swing and possess a great understanding of his hitting mechanics. He is constantly challenging himself to improve and become more of a complete hitter! As a young hitter, Nic really focuses on producing the “effortless” type swing through a strong kinetic link in his body. He has a great understanding of how paramount his lower half is in the ability to maximize the power of his swing. Striving to maximize shoulder/hip separation every swing, his athleticism allows him to produce more torque than the average 12-year-old. Alongside a great lower half, Nic combines his ability to stay inside the baseball with his incredibly fast and powerful hands to produce the “controlled violence” that his swing is. Nic is able to show constant exit and bat speeds that are comparable to players that are the 3-4 years older than him. When all said and done, it is truly impressive to watch Nic hit!

In describing Nic let me just say that he is first one of the most love-able, well mannered, baseball junkies and player you will ever meet. His intensity and passion for the sport is only dwarfed by the fear he puts in the pitchers eyes on game day. Nic is by far one of the strongest kids at the plate I have seen for his age. When I say strong I mean about his ability to hit, hit hard, hit far, and make pitchers worry. At his age you see many players miss good hit able pitches, or you ask some kids where was that pitch you just scalded, and they don’t know as they just swung hard. Not Nic. Nic knows where he can hit, where the pitch is going, and how to maximize his ability.

On top of his hitting for power prowess, he is a complete player at 11. He is an intelligent player beyond many of his peers. He knows situations, and has good awareness of his baseball environment. He works hard at all aspects of his game, and is a solid catcher, pitcher and first baseman. By no coincidence is it that his role on the field demands leadership, as he is the anchor for his teams, even when he is one of the youngest in his group of peers by one year. Sometime in my experience there are players that are put in roles due to their on statistics and uncanny play in key moments. Nic works hard to learn more about the game, situations, and details than any other player I know at his age.

I have seen players at young ages not conduct themselves with poise, and steadiness when anointed roles as leaders on teams even though, they are, by example of their baseball skills the ones you want to lead. Somehow they succumb to the pressure, of overcritical self awareness and performance, and don’t deliver to their level of personal acceptance. And then continue to fail in their leadership role. Not Nic. Time again I have seen Nic beyond his own personal brief inabilities, or infrequent moments of success, become one of the more enjoying and uplifting participants on any bench. His kid demeanor, is infectious, and yet calming to his peers, and as such is just a pleasure to watch and observe with his positive attitude.

He glows with enthusiasm, works hard at the details, and delivers with more strength and certainty each year. He separates himself from his peers by his performances, in all situations, and all the while, has what I appreciate best, He works mentally to have solid improvement in the level of emotional and confidence on the field, as he has grown physically. He is often referred to as the “The Hulk” by his teammates, mainly because of his freakish strength, but I believe its is because of his ownership to do his “Hulk” of the work outside of game day and in the tunnels, when no one is watching.

Nic is more than deserving of this honor to participate in your Showcase event, and I know you will not be disappointed with his dedication, and abilities. I am thrilled to offer my reference for his opportunity to step to the next level.
