Coach Schurr holds an MS in Exercise Science and an MA in Educational Administration. Coach Schurr teaches in the physical welfare department and has served as department chair for ten years at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, Illinois.                               

Coach Schurr has been coaching on the high school diamond for 22 years. Coach Schurr’s coaching career began at Elk Grove High School for four years (1990-94) where he served as head baseball coach and assisted in football and basketball.  Coach Schurr moved to Niles North High School for the next five years (1995-99) of his teaching/coaching career serving as the varsity assistant baseball and the head football coach for two years. Coach Schurr is currently in his fourteenth year at Libertyville High School (2000-present) with twelve of those serving as head coach. His teams have been to the Illinois Baseball State Championships three times; twice in the summer and once this past spring 2013. Coach Schurr has coached the Libertyville American Legion team for six years winning the county and district championships twice and state once. Coach Schurr has also coached Team Illinois Baseball twice in his career.

Throughout his tenure at LHS Schurr has coached the quarterbacks and receivers on the varsity football staff allowing him to coach in in two Football State Championships.

During Coach Schurr’s playing career he earned NJCAA All-American honors at Harper Junior College that led him to play at Western Kentucky University.

Coach Schurr’s greatest joy, as a coach, is to see his student/athletes continue to play at any of the next levels of in college, a joy that has seen over two-dozen players to the Division 1 level and six players to pro ball.

Coach Schurr and his wife Cindy have four children; Bianca, Gabriel, A.J. and Nicholas.
