Craig Stoves – All-World

Craig Stoves spent 11 years scouting in International Operations. This consisted of 7 years scouting with the Montreal Expos (now Washington Nationals) before taking on the same role with the Florida Marlins (now Miami Marlins) for a 4 year period.

During that time Craig worked directly under International Super Scout Fred Ferreira who is currently the Executive Director of International Operations for MLB Baltimore Orioles. Ferreira was awarded International Scout of the Year at the MLB Winter meetings in 2012.
Craig also spent parts of 12 years as a coach at an International Baseball Development Academy focusing on all aspects of player development & instruction. This Academy had a link to the Expos and the Marlins. Craig was at the helm of the International Baseball Academy for a short stint in 2006 – 2007 at which time he also guided the Academy team to the league championship. Also during his time at the Baseball Academy, Craig for 2 consecutive years was in charge of on-field instruction at 1 week long European baseball development camps based in Holland and Germany.

Following his scouting role Craig entered into player representation and management, where he exclusively represented Australian baseball players. During this 3 year period of player representation Craig negotiated contracts and in turn assisted 10 Australians in signing professional baseball contracts. During this time Craig’s diverse baseball and business skills also afforded him the opportunity to manage and instruct baseball at an indoor baseball centre in Sydney, Australia.

For a 3 year period, Craig was a valued and respected member of the coaching staff at the New South Wales State High Performance Baseball Development Program based in Sydney, Australia for Australian based players aged 18 & under. During this period Craig was also an assistant coach for the New South Wales 18 & under state team that competed in the Australian Baseball Championships. This team finished #1 in Australia and was crowned Australian Champions. The previous year Craig was an assistant coach for the New South Wales 16 & under state team which also competed in the Australian Baseball Championships. This team finished #2 in Australia.

Craig played baseball for 21 years primarily as a short stop where he saw action playing both in Australia and the USA.

Craig has travelled back and forth from Australia to the USA for baseball since the early 1990’s. While a native of Australia, Craig is now a US permanent resident and resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

For a short stint and on a casual basis Craig assisted with the baseball program at Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On a small scale Craig is also involved in personal, group and team baseball instruction & development at the youth level. Craig was the head coach for two little league teams for the past few seasons and in the 2013 fall season he guided both teams to the 2013 Fall League Championships in South Florida.

In 2012 and 2013 Craig was an assistant coach for Team USA at the World High School Power Showcase event.

Craig is currently involved in coaching, player development and player evaluation/scouting with Fred Ferreira who is the Executive Director of International Operations for MLB Baltimore Orioles. Craig is the Head Coach of Fred Ferreira’s Orioles Prospects Team in South Florida.

Craig has a professional manner, quality leadership skills and a positive winning attitude and he instills these same qualities into the players and teams he is around.
