I have had the pleasure of coaching Hogan for 3 years now.   He is a tremendous kid and player who eats, sleeps, and breathes the game of baseball.    Obviously his size for a 12 year old jumps off the page-  but that should only be viewed as a positive in that he is much more than that as a player.

I was lucky enough to play 4 years of Division 1 Collegiate Baseball…  but even at 12 years old, Hogan technically has as pure of a swing as anyone I’ve ever seen or played with.   Combine that with the unique way balls explode off his bat- and it makes him as dangerous of a power hitter that there is at this age group.   With hard work, he has made himself into an above average first baseman, who will only get better.    As a pitcher, he is intimidating and dominating at times-  but his upside on the mound is even more tremendous.    His size and arm strength overpower many kids at this level… but his ability to command a nasty breaking pitch make him often unhittable.   As he continues to grow, mature, and become more flexible with his body, he has so much room to grow, and I truly believe he has a huge future as a pitcher.

The most impressive thing about Hogan is his work ethic.   All he wants to do is play or practice- whether it be swings in the cage, ground balls, or a bullpen session.   He alone has made himself into the player he is today.    Aside from his on the field abilities, he is also a fantastic and very respectful kid.    He is a leader that all his teammates look up to…  but he is also their biggest fan when they have success.    Along with my own son, Hogan is my favorite kid I have had the pleasure to coach.    I will follow his future in baseball wherever that may take him.    That future has a very high ceiling and I will be his biggest fan there to watch!

nc-STALLINGS-HRH-PROFILE  Hogan has partnered with Meghan Bunn for Home Runs that Help to raise money for Bob’s Buddies benefiting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

Meghan Bunn of Oxford NC was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in May 2012 at the age of 10.  She immediately underwent surgery to remove the brain tumor with aggressive chemo and radiation therapies thereafter.  As a result of such aggressive treatment and the medical expertise of UNC Children’s Hospital, Meghan has remained Cancer free since diagnosis.

Prior to Meghan’s diagnosis in May 2012, she was an athlete who excelled in competitive sports such as softball, volleyball and soccer.  Due to her diagnosis and debilitating side effects of aggressive treatments, Meghan has been unable to return to competitive play.  This in itself leaves a void in her life.  She has instead invested her athletic talents and knowledge towards fundraising and hosting charitable events.  As of to date, Meghan has petitioned to fight childhood cancer and promote awareness through advocacy, fundraising and personal testimonies. She alone has raised over $25 thousand dollars to charities of her choice, including Bobs Buddies!  As we continue to fight pediatric cancer, please remember that these kids never stop fighting.  Their lives are forever changed and we owe it to them to bring more awareness and research for childhood cancer!
