Dalton Strickland is one of the most talented 13U players in the country and will be a great asset for your upcoming event in December.  He plays as hard as any player that I have watched over the past 5 years and has a very bright future ahead of him.  He is a 5 tool player and will be on the watch list for many scouts in the coming years.  Not only is he a very talented ball player, but he is a leader on and off of the field and his baseball knowledge is outstanding.  I am looking forward to watching him at your showcase this winter.

GA-STRICKLAND-PITCH9-PROFILE
As a professional baseball hitting instructor/pitching/fundamentals at 65 years old I have trained and coached hundreds of athletes. Dalton Strickland is the ultimate example of that one athlete that very seldom comes along in a life time. For over three years that I have been training Dalton, his maturity, his natural athletic ability, and his dedication to this sport he obviously loves, is just unmatched. He treats his twice a week one hour training with the same energy and excitement he would have during a tournament. His love for detail, and his desire to learn, matches his commitment to become the best that he can possibly be when no one is watching. His mechanics have become almost flawless and is eager to go from drill to drill. It has been and still is a personal pleasure to experience such a successful journey, and knowing that his parents Tim and Amy Strickland fully support this young athletes gifting plays a major role. Dalton is very humble even when he is showered with awards and recognitions. When I hear his success stories week in and week out, I always always think about his dedication and love for the silent effort he does consistently to become the best version of a baseball athlete I have ever seen. It is an honor to be a part of Dalton’s journey as he has learned at an early age what his true gifting is.

ProScouting Elite invited Dalton Strickland to play in the 12u Team USA Futures Invitational (June 2015) and 12u Cooperstown Dreams Park (August 2015) tournaments.  He accepted both invites.

The one quality for me that sets Dalton apart from most other elite pre-high school players is his makeup. When you first meet him he has a firm handshake, he looks you right in the eye as he confidently introduces himself, and he politely answers questions while always finishing with a ‘Yes Sir’ or a ‘Yes Coach’. But it doesn’t stop there… he’s attentive to instructions, he executes the plan, he respects the game, he always hustles, and no matter if he succeeds or fails on the field, he maintains his passion and focus.

As for his hitting toolshed, he showed me a fast bat with plus contact and power, he’s quiet in the box, and he was able to recognize and adjust to off speed pitches. Going back to makeup a second, he consistently showed me he knew game situations like where he needed to put the ball in play.

Defensively he played a solid center field, shortstop, and second; although he played quite a few positions, these seem to be his primary. He ran acceptable routes in the outfield, his range and hands played well for middle infield, and he showed a plus arm on the field.

While I never asked him, I would guess Dalton feels most comfortable on the mound. He showed me athleticism in his repeatable delivery, a high leg kick, and clean arm action with a high slot and nice downward plane. His velo was in the 70’s with a tick of arm-side run. He compliments his fastball with a changeup he has some feel for and a plus 1-7 curve with plus-plus spin and depth for his age. Dalton’s arm action on the curve is a couple of years advanced. He was confident on the mound and always in-charge.

Dalton’s leadership is one reason ProScouting Elite won a Silver Medal with Team USA and why his team finished third at Cooperstown. Dalton set a record or two at Cooperstown and his contributions helped the team to tie the record for ‘Most Home Runs in a Game’ at 19. He’s an elite player for his age and very coachable.

The Carolina Kong had the pleasure of first meeting and competing against Dalton in South Carolina. Dalton is an outstanding athlete, baseball player and even better person. Head coach Chris Cox’s commented, “Very rarely do you find the maturity and athleticism that Dalton exhibits. It was a pleasure coaching against such a fierce competitor.” Dalton’s game not only impressed the Kong’s former and current MLB players coaching staff, he also left the Kong players admiring his game. Dalton is considered one of their favorite players and they look forward to the opportunity to compete against Dalton in the future. From all of the Kong coaches and players, we wish Dalton the very best in the Power Showcase.

I had the privilege of coaching Dalton Strickland in the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015. I watched this kid for three years at every tournament in Georgia and in other states. He is truly a 5 tool player. I finally talked his dad in to letting him come play with me. He played CF, SS, and pitched for me. He can play any spot on the field. I pray he stays healthy. If he does he will have a tough choice in a few years, that choice will be sign a D-1 or go into the draft. I’m excited to watch how it plays out. His physical ability is off the chain. But his attitude and mental aspect is off it as well.

Dalton has excelled in every aspect of the game and proves to be a very special hitter who has a lot of pop in his bat.  With early success in hitting home runs he continues to project with the ability to hit balls out of the park and barring health issues will continue to be a good power hitter.

I feel Dalton is in the top percentage of the baseball players across the country that you are looking for in showcasing players at your event.  Feel free to reach out to me if you need any more info.
