Call him “Clutch”, Call him “Money”, Call Josh Steidl “UPS” as he delivers!, especially when his team needs him the most. This multi-positional, left handed hitter gives a coach exceptional confidence whenever he writes his name in the lineup, specifically when he enters the batter’s box. His demeanor may be quiet but his assault on opposing pitchers can be heard throughout the game. Amazing discipline, knowledge and understanding of the strike zone and for the game as a whole, he leads by example and his teammates follow his every move.

Gordie Hershiser / Head Coach-Team Chandler

My name is Joshua Perich and have been coaching youth baseball for 7 years now through various organizations throughout the Northeast.  Prior to getting involved with youth tournament baseball, I played 5 years professionally within the Mets Organization and began my coaching career as an Assistant Coach at Lehigh University.  I have been coaching Josh Steidl this past fall as the Head Coach for the US Elite 12U baseball team and am very pleased to be able to write this evaluation for him.  This team participates in the highest competition level of tournaments available within our area.

Josh is a very versatile Catcher/Corner Infielder/Pitcher with a strong arm and compact line drive swing (see below for tools breakdown).

  • Fielding:  Receives the ball very well as a catcher with above average mobility and blocking ability.  He is very quick at getting rid of the ball and paired with his strong arm, throws out a very high percentage of runners.  A solid corner infielder capable of playing both 3rd and 1st equally well.
  • Arm Strength:  Above average arm strength (mid 60’s range mph).
  • Speed: Speed is not his strength, but is capable of scoring from 2nd on a base hit.
  • Hitting for Average:  The combination of a nice compact swing and ability to drive the ball the other way allows for Josh to consistently hit against even the strongest pitching.
  • Hitting for Power:  Josh hits the ball hard to the gaps producing many extra base hits.  He has the ability to drive the ball out of the park.

Josh is a very hard working player who is difficult to keep off the field.  He is very coachable and polite, yet has a strong competitive spirit and drive which makes him a very tough, hard-nose player.

As mentioned above, he is an absolute pleasure to coach, and would strongly recomend him for any program.
