I’ve been coaching Hector Alejandro at Molina Baseball for over a year now. The first thing that I noticed about him from the moment that I met him at our try out was his physical and mental toughness. Hector is a very humble but passionate player with a lot of self-drive, motivation and commitment to the game that he loves. Hector is known as a prankster who likes to have fun but he is also known for putting his foot down and getting serious when it’s time to get serious and get down to business. As a pitcher and a catcher who stands at over 5 feet 10 inches tall throwing close to 80 mph, he’s been an intimidating presence in the middle of our line up to say the least. Hector is the type of player who will never say no even when he is physically exhausted and nearly unable to continue. His mental toughness and his willingness to help the team is second to none.  My biggest issue with Hector is telling him to sit down and rest after catching a full game, and having him argue with me to catch the rest of the tournament because his team needs him. Hector is the type of warrior that every coach dreams of having on their team.

Hector is a middle of the lineup hitter with a lot of patience and power who is known for having a great eye at the plate. Hector is known for his high on base percentage because he will not chase bad pitches and when he sees the pitch that he wants, he will usually punish the pitchers who make the mistake of pitching to him with his power.

Hector is a natural born leader who leads by example. During his 12u season while at Cooperstown Dreams Park, his teammates and coaches knew him as “the enforcer” who controlled the barracks when no one else wanted to take control. Hector would tell everyone at a certain time of the night that enough was enough and that it was time to go to sleep and to get ready to play the next morning and his teammates respected him because they knew he really meant it. Everyone knew that his goal was team oriented and that he came to the event with one goal in mind which was to win the whole thing like he does at every tournament that he goes to.

Hector’s commitment to the game of baseball is something that he acquired from his parents and their example. Hector and his family live in the state of Connecticut and they would attend every practice in the State of New Jersey every weekend no matter if it was raining, snowing, sleeting or below zero temperatures. They attended every practice and every game the entire season. Hector’s family is the type of family that every coach dreams of having on their team. Hector’s father is a baseball coach in the state of Connecticut but he sits back and does not say a word to the coaches while playing for Molina. Hector’s mother is the sweetest lady in the world and she goes through the grind with her son every weekend and does not miss anything that has to do with the team. Hector and his family have been a great addition to Molina Baseball and it is with great confidence that I fully endorse Hector Alejandro as a team leader who will make any team better.

Congratulation to Hector and his family on all his accomplishments and for being selected into the Power Showcase event.
