NEW MEXICO – Liam McEntee

New Mexico Representative

Liam McEntee

6’0 / 200

AGE: 17

My name is Chuck Lujan and I am the Assistant Baseball Coach for the New Mexico Elite Club Team in Albuquerque New Mexico.  In addition to coaching with New Mexico Elite, I also own my own company and was fortunate enough to play college baseball.  It was while fulfilling my duties this last summer for NM Elite I had the great pleasure of coaching Liam McEntee.

Liam McEntee is one of the most “coach-able” kids I have ever had the pleasure of working with.  Early on in the summer I made the suggestion that he might consider making some changes in his swing.  This was somewhat of a foreign idea to a kid who had never done it before.  Rather than be resistant, Liam bought in to what I was telling him and had a lot of success this summer.  Through his own hard work and dedication he got better and better each appearance he made.

His hard work not only is evident at the plate but in the field as well.  Liam is always one of the first to show up and the last to leave, always wanting to work extra on anything that might help make him a better ball player.  Offensively, he has a good idea and approach at the plate.  He has very good hand eye coordination makes him a dangerous hitter that will not strike out very much.  Liam understands that one of his biggest weaknesses is his anxiousness and I have watched him work diligently to improve this weakness in his overall game.  Liam is an athletic kid whose defensive abilities are equally as impressive as all the other things he does on a baseball field.  Time and time again this summer Liam amazed me with plays he was able to make in the outfield.  Of all the things I have told you about Liam probably the most impressive attributes he displays are the intangibles that he has.

In a day and age where many players have lost the love and passion for the game of Baseball Liam is a breath of fresh air.  Liam truly has a heart for baseball which explains his hard working nature and mentality.  But most of all he is passionate about this game and plays the game without an ounce of fear.  If I could field a team full of kids just like Liam would have the makings of something special. .

Chuck Lujan, Assistant Coach NM Elite

My name is Stacey Price, I have 40 years of coaching experience. I have helped develop several athletes whom went on to represent our country in International competitions. I highly recommend Liam McEntee and here’s why: Liam has great integrity, uncompromising dedication to playing baseball, outstanding mental discipline, a great attitude, and is totally committed.

I have coached Liam since he was 8 years old. I am his running and conditioning coach. I know talent and at age 8 I could tell Liam was a special athlete. I watched his progress over the years showing persistence and excitement about learning new skills. His focus is on performance and he understands great performance comes from thoroughness of preparation and patience. His dream is to make it to the next level which is playing D-1 college baseball.  I believe he will achieve this.

Liam’s a team player, his willingness to help a team mate without being asked shows his unselfish character. He’s a positive force on and off the field. The guy works incredibly hard, always displaying confidence and enthusiasm.

I have observed Liam on and off the field for the better part of four years. In my turn of coaching Liam I have encountered an individual who has shown pronounced leadership, exceptional commitment, and remarkable character on and off the field. During his tenure with NM Elite and the Albuquerque Flames Elite, he has demonstrated a thorough understanding and love for the game.Liam is an aggressive player who gives his all during every play and at-bat. I have not once seen Liam give up or be discouraged. He has displayed an eagerness to learn and appreciates suggestions for growth.

Liam is strong willed, extremely energetic, and has an ability to make other players around him better. Over the course of four years, I have witnessed in Liam an incomparable willingness to succeed that I had not yet encountered in my years of coaching. In his continued pursuit of playing baseball I believe he has the right attitude, commitment level, and character to go as far as his skills will allow him.
