The upcoming 8th Annual Power Showcase Home Run Derby and All-World/All-American Baseball Classic is being held at Marlins Park from January 2nd – 5th, 2014.  

During the POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby each player will receive a total of twenty outs – five with wood and fifteen with metal.

There will be three games played on January 5th.  Each game is scheduled for 10-innings or three-hour times limit.  The goal is to provide each player with five-innings, to demonstrate his overall skill-set not only in his primary, but secondary position as well.  

Pitchers only – will receive two-innings each. Pitchers will also have a chance to throw bullpens at Marlins Park. 

January 1, Wednesday

Arrival day – Check in at Hilton /DoubleTree

 

January 2, Thursday – Scout Day & Welcome Dinner

7:30am – 4:00pm –  Scout Day – Location: Marlins Park

Each team will have a meeting, take batting practice – infield/outfield – receive uniforms, take group/team photo, pick their number for POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby batting order and meet with Michael Cooper (Human Performance Mentors) for their scheduled time in the media room.

 

FUTURE STARS (34 Participants) – 7:30am to 12:00am

7:30am to 7:45am – Check-in – Third Base Dugout – Receive Uniforms

8:00am to 8:15am – Player’s Get Loose

8:15am to 9:00am – Infield/Outfield (45 minutes)

9:00am to 10:00am – Batting Practice/60 Yard (60 – minutes) Players will be broken into 7 groups of 5.

Player’s, you will rotate every 10 minutes – you will have 60 seconds to get to the next station.

Group 1 – Visitors Batting Cage (TURFS ONLY)

Group 2 – BP On The Field – SwingAways on the side to get loose

Group 3 – Shagging Out Field

Group 4 – Protecting The 60 Runners

Group 5 – Stretching for the 60

Group 6 – Running the 60

Group 7 – Shagging in Foul Territory

10:00am to 10:30am – Group/Team Photo In Centerfield

11:00am to 12:00pm Human Performance Mentors – Media Room – With Michael Cooper

UNDERCLASSMAN ALL (54 Participants) – 7:30am to 1:15pm 

7:30 am to 7:45am – Check-in Diamond Club Entrance/Lounge

8:00am to 8:50am – Human Performance Mentors – Media Room – With Michael Cooper

9:00am to 9:45am – Receive Uniforms – Visitors Locker Room (keep on)

10:00am to 10:30am – Group/Team Photo In Centerfield – Mandatory

10:30am to 10:45am – Player’s Get Loose

10:45am 11:45am – Infield/Outfield (60 – minutes)

11:45am to 1:15pm – Batting Practice/60 Yard (90 – minutes) Players will be broken into 7 groups of 8.

FEATURED GROUP ALL 2014 Grads (53 Participants) – 8:00am to 4:00pm

8:00am to 8:45am – Check-in receive uniforms in the Visitors Locker Room (keep uniforms on)

9:00am to 9:50am – Human Performance Mentors – Media Room

10:00am to 10:30am – Group/Team Photo Centerfield

11:00am to 12:00pm – Pitchers & Catcher Bullpens (All American East in Left Field Bullpen – West in Right)

1:00pm – Check back-in

1:15pm to 1:30pm – Player’s Get Loose

1:30pm to 2:30pm –  Infield/Outfield (60 – minutes)

6:30pm to 11:00pm – Welcome Dinner and Uniform Presentation Ceremony.

The Head Coach of each team will be acknowledged and presented with his Jersey.  Location: Marlins Park Concourse

 

January 3, Friday – FUTURE STARS & UNDERCLASS POWER SHOWCASE

The FUTURE STARS has 34 participants. Each participant will receive a total of fifteen outs during the preliminary round – metal bat.  The top two finalist will advance the next day and lead off the FEATURED group. During the finals each player will receive 15 outs.  The field dimensions are 225ft down the line and arc to 250 in center – a white painted line is required.

During the UNDERCLASS (54 Participants) event, each participant will receive a total of twenty outs, five with wood and fifteen with metal.  The three finalists will advance to the championship round on Sunday. During the finals each participant will receive fifteen outs with the bat of their choice. NOTICE: Because this is the first year running a younger age group, the precise scheduling is going to be difficult to confirm.  Your check-in time below is extremely important, so please be in the stadium at that time to assess.

January 5, Sunday – Three Games and PS Finals

GAME 1 – Babe Ruth Classic

9:00am to 12:00pm – Featuring both 2014 graduates and underclassmen

7:30am to 7:45am – Player Check-in

7:45am to 8:00am – Stretch/Arms

8:00am to 8:15am – American League – Infield/Outfield

8:15am to 8:30am – National League – Infield/Outfield

8:30am to 8:45am – Players Announced

8:55am to 9:00am – National Anthem performed by  Mason Pace

9:00am GAME TIME – 10 innings or three-hour time limit – Equal playing time is expected.

 

GAME 2 – All-World Classic
1:30pm to 4:35pm – Top 20 underclassmen born in the US vs. top 20 International players.

11:00am to 12:00pm – Player Check-in

12:15pm to 12:30pm – Stretch/Arms

12:30pm to 12:45pm – All-World – Infield/Outfield

12:45pm to 1:00pm – USA – Infield/Outfield

1:00pm to 1:15pm – Players Announced

1:15pm to 1:20pm – National Anthem perform by Ashley Briggs

1:30pm to 4:45pm Game Time (3 hour 15 minute time limit)

 

POWER SHOWCASE Finals – 5:00pm to 6:00pm – Top six finalist (three) from both age groups will compete for the world title. Fifteen Outs – bat of choice.

4:15pm to 4:30pm – Player Check-in – Photos with Jeff Horton

4:30pm to 4:45pm – Player’s get lose in visitor’s batting cage – club house

4:45pm to 5:00pm – Players warm up in batting cages

6:00pm to 6:30pm – Awards Ceremony/Interviews – off to the side.
