Guest Speaker – Award Presenter – Linda Ruth Tosetti – Babe Ruth’s Granddaughter
I am excited and proud to be part the Power Showcase! It is an event my grandfather, Babe Ruth, would have loved to be part of. He would have been in his glory to be among the best of the best of high school sluggers form the United States and around the World! It is a gift that I, as his granddaughter, get to participate in his name in this incredible event. I want to thank Brian and everyone who works so hard for this program to happen, for letting my husband Andrew and I to be a part of it all. I have the wonderful opportunity to give out two Babe Ruth awards. The “Colossus Of Clout” bat. It is a replica bat that is the weight Babe swung until 1922, weighing 54oz. It is given for the longest home run. There is a second The “Spirit of Babe Ruth”Award which is another bat that is given in honor of Babe Ruth being the only 6 tool player in baseball. Hitting, Hitting for Power, Speed, Fielding, Throwing, and of course his marvelous Pitching! It is awarded to a Power Showcase participant who shows Ability, Strength, Leadership, Passion and Respect for the game of baseball. |
Next week will be Babe’s birthday. We should all reflect on the great example Babe was. He always thought of others and never forgot those that most of society had already forgotten.
