2004 Inaugural World Champion – Brian Van Kirk

The First Annual South Florida Power Showcase Home Run Derby was held at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Raton, Florida. Many magical moments took place on Saturday, January 17 and Wednesday, January 21, 2004.

68 players from 26 different high schools came out to showcase their power for 20 different major league organizations, as well as college programs.

Power Showcase Home Run Derby 1st Annual Champion, Brian Van Kirk from Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, hit 18 home runs in the first round, 5 in the second round, and then, exploding for 15 in the Championship round.

He outlasted his teammate, Elih Villanueva, who put on a show, hitting 9 in the final round, finishing second in the event.

Longest distance of a Home Run:
Vinnie Scarduzio, Jupiter H.S. – 475 ft.

Most consecutive Home runs:
Tony Cruz, Santaluces H.S. – 7

Most Home runs in a single round:
Vinnie Scarduzzio, Jupiter H.S. – 23

Overall Home Run total:
Brian Vankirk, Westmister Academy – 38
