Douglas Taylor affectionately known as “Biscuit” or “B“ by his teammates, family and friends, is a well-rounded student academically as well as student of the game of baseball.  In my 30 years of coaching, he has one of the best work ethics I have ever seen.  He is passionate at working at the game he loves.  Douglas gives back to the game by volunteering at baseball summer camps as well as mentoring younger players at his school.  Power Showcase should be thrilled to have a great young man like Douglas who is worthy of any accolades that he receives.   It is a pleasure to coach Douglas because when he steps to the plate, I know he will pick the right pitch to hit, whether it is a home run or a single to win the game.  In my opinion, Douglas is an accomplished player because of his great bat speed, eye for the ball, impeccable hitting mechanics, powerful arm, golden glove in the field, and “is always in the right place, at the right time”.  If I were to start a team, I would love to have a team full of players like Douglas Taylor. – Alan S. SCOUTING REPORTS2014 1B Douglas Taylor (Fayetteville Academy, NC)- Strong power hitting 1B, moves well for size, good body control through swing, interesting young hitter to follow. Thick wide frame, strong build. Deceptively athletic swing actions, good balance, well-coordinated. Good bat speed, long powerful swing, flashes present Home Run power, pullside preference, bat is best tool. Good hands defensively, first base is best position. Good student. was one of just two players to homer in BP. It didn’t look like it was going to happen for Taylor who hammered a no doubter foul down the LF line and then skied a couple deep drives to the warning track in left center. But on the final swing of his round Taylor lifted one over the wall down the LF line. Taylor shows good body control in his swing for a power hitter and we’ve seen him hit well at other events in the past.Perfect Game Scout Blogs from 2012 National Underclass Session 3 and 2012 Atlantic Coast Underclass
