“DiViesti is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound catcher. He showed a solid arm at 78 mph out of the crouch, recording pop times as good as 1.9 and on the bag. At the plate he showed a solid presence in the box making aggressive passes at the baseball. He showed barrel awareness with a line drive approach working to both gaps. DiViestiuses a leg kick to produce bat speed and some pop.”
Scouting Blog from 2012 17U BCS Tournament in Florida
Team Fastball USA defeated the CFBL Elite Prospects 17u Blue team today 14-6 behind the bat of John Thomas (2013, Dixon, IL) and Mike DiViesti (2013, Buffalo Grove, IL). Thomas was 2-4 in the game today with six RBI and DiViesti was 2-2 with three RBI. Thomas showed good bat speed and a sound hitting approach today as he was able to drive in a lot of runs for his team and show that he can be a middle of the order producer for his team. Thomas lined a ball into the gap today for a double showing off his gap power. DiViesti showed a good eye and fluid stroke as he smacked a ball for a double and drove in three runs in the game. He also had quick feet and a smooth transfer behind the plate at the catcher’s position. He also had a playable arm and quick release.
