2:00pm to 9:00pm – PLAYER CHECK-IN – Hilton Hotel – Downtown Miami – 1601 Biscayne Blvd

The Hilton charges a $25 parking fee. 

Location – CONCERTO A Room

Players will receive their uniform (minus their jersey, which will be presented at the Welcome Dinner), and pick/choose their POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby batting order number.

Also, parents and coaches, I strongly suggest a group text for communication and a daily meeting spot for player check-in. 

Admission – There is NO fee to enter the Marlins park

Food – Concessions will be closed – Coolers Food/Drinks are allowed – No Alcohol! There is a Subway & Wendy’s within walking distance.

Entrance – 7:30am – Players/Parents will enter through the MEDIA ENTRANCE morning/day.

Thursday, December 27th

10:30am to 1:30pm – MLB Scout Day, Mental Strength Session & Welcome Dinner 7:00pm to 10:00pm

Player’s will check-in with their Head Coach’s (Head Coach Hondo Medellin – National & Willie Vizoso – American) at the Media Entrance 10 minutes before your scheduled Scout Day time of 10:45am.  There will be visible signs and Marlins staff to help guide you to your designated current and future locations.

PLEASE keep in mind that there are groups going through their MLB Scout Day before you. Be patient as they finish up and be ready to go immediately when they are done.

10:30am – Player Check-in with your coach’s in the third base dugout – wait patiently until you are brought on the field for your Scout Day.

11:00am to 12:45pm – Scout Speech Intro – Pittsburg Pirates Nick Presto and Scout Day

1:00pm to 2:00pm – (Both Teams) Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper (Mandatory for ALL parents & Players)

7:00pm to 10:00pm – Welcome Dinner – Location Marlins Park – Homeplate Entrance


Friday, December 28th – Mental Strength Session and Shagging for College & High School Home Run Derby.

The Preliminary Round for the College Select & High School POWER SHOWCASE will begin at roughly 5:00pm. The starting time may fluctuate because of the younger age group taking place beforehand.

Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper at 5:00pm.  Location: Marlins Media Room – Mandatory for parents.

4:45pm – Player/Team check-in – Media Entrance. Players & Parents will be escorted to the Marlins Media Room.

5:00pm to 6:00pm – 2nd Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper – Marlins Media Room

6:15pm to 9:15pm – Shagging is Mandatory! Coach’s, you will be on the field as well.


Saturday, December 29th – 15U Home Run Derby & Babe Ruth Classic Game

11:00am to 2:00pm – HOME RUN DERBY – 15U PRELIMINARY ROUND and GAME 8:00pm to 11:00pm.

FYI – Please keep in mind that the starting time of the Derby competition might vary slightly depending on the performance of the earlier 12U age group.

It’s going to be a long, but an extremely exciting competition.

During the preliminary round, each participant will receive 15 outs.

The Field Dimension will be 310ft-375ft-310ft.
The pitching machine will be set at a velocity of 62/65 mph from a distance of 54 feet.

The top two finalists and possible Wild Card will advance to the Championship Round on December 30th and compete for the World Title.
*WILDCARDIf a player hits the furthest Home Run and does not finish in the top two, he will also advance to the finals. The Finals will begin at roughly 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Finalists will check-in with Jerry Gonzalez in the First base dugout at 1:30pm.

15U Players will check-in with Coach Jerry Gonzalez in the third base dugout at 10:30am. Once everyone has been checked-in – Player’s will head to the outfield to shagg until the 12 Rookies Home Run Derby concludes.

Introductions/National Anthem – Simply due to time constraints, we will not have individual introductions. There are 37 (15U) participants. Batters 1 through 18 will line-up along the first base line and remaining 19 along the third base line.

Probable start time 15U HOME RUN DERBY – 11:00am – 3:00pm

11:00am – National Anthem performed by Carly Cantor

15U Babe Ruth Classic GAME – 7:45pm to 11:00pm

OFFENSIVE MVP ANNOUNCED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GAME

Coach’s, kindly have your line-up cards filled out and ready to be handed in one hour before your scheduled game time. I suggest taking a picture and email/texting it to the Marlins Staff and announcers – Broadcast Announcer – Jon Fraysure – 561/430-7148, PA Announcer – Chad Angerhofer – 9544653401 – Miami Media School – Sean Stanley 954/615-7087.

 

An inning-by-inning positional schedule will be posted in the dugout for player reference. 

FYI – There is a three-run max or 25 pitch limit per-inning – Teams will simply switch.  The health/safety of the players in the number one concern.  Players will be rotated every inning, for fair and equal playing time.

Again, the starting time of the Babe Ruth Classic will depend on the completion of the 14U Home Run Derby. taking place beforehand.  The game will begin exactly 30 minutes after.

7:00pm – 7:15pm – Players will check-in to your designated dugouts with your Coach..

7:15pm to 7:30pm – Players get lose – Pitchers head to the bullpen with your coach and catcher

7:30pm to 7:40pm – Line-up for the National Anthem
