AGE: 15

BATTING IN:
15U HOME RUN DERBY

PLAYING IN:
ALL-AMERICAN CLASSIC

I had the privilege of coaching Nicholas Wright during his freshman year on the baseball team.  Nicholas was primarily our catcher but also played third base and DH.  He was one of the leading hitters on the team.  He smacked eleven doubles in 21 games.  He hit over .400.  Defensively, Nicholas threw out over 30% of would-be base stealers.  He is very good at blacking balls in the dirt.  He also has a strong arm.
For his efforts Nicholas was voted by divisional coaches (I could not vote for my players) as the top catcher in our division.  In addition Nicholas was voted the “Freshman Player of the Year” for our division.
COACH JEFF TAYLOR

I have been privileged to have the opportunity to coach Nicholas the last three summers in travel ball. His knowledge of the game and his natural baseball ability has made him one of the top players in the area. His work ethic in practice is second to none. Always working on the fundamentals trying to become a better player. When game time rolls around, and he steps between the white lines he always gives you 110%.

Offensively, Nicholas is a special hitter. The ball jumps off his bat. He has power to all gaps. He has developed the patience to take a walk and has learned to use the whole field. Each of the last three seasons he has had a batting average around .500.
Defensively, as a catcher, cannon comes to mind to describe his arm. Once opposing teams see his arm, not many even attempt to steal. With his athleticism and ability to learn quickly we also have played Nicholas at first base and shortstop.
He has good footwork and soft hands to play most infield positions.

Nicholas is a good natured and humble young man both on the field and off.
If he continues putting in the effort and hard work, he will some day be playing the game at a very high level.
