Schedule & Format (13/14)

Monday, December 26th – Arrival & Check-in 12:00pm to 10:00pm Player Check-in Hilton Hotel – Downtown Miami – CONCERTO A Room.

Player’s will receive their uniform and pick/choose their POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby batting order.

FYI – PLAYERS ARE TO BRING THEIR EQUIPMENT (gloves/turfs) TO THE BALL PARK EVERY DAY, AS THEY WILL HAVE MANDATORY SHAGGING TIMESLOTS.

FOOD/DRINKS are permitted in the stadium. CONCESSION STANDS ARE NOT OPEN>
ADMISSION is free.

Also, parents and coaches, I strongly suggest a group text for communication and a daily meeting spot for player check-in.

 

Tuesday, December 27th 7:30am to 11:00am – MLB Scout Day & Welcome Dinner 3:00pm to 6:00pm
7:30am – Player Check-in will be third base dugout with your respective team/coach. (Parents NOT ALLOWED during Team Meetings)
7:45am – 8:00am – Scout Speech Intro – Pittsburg Pirates Nick Presto
8:00am – 11:00am – Defense & Batting Practice
3:00pm to 6:00pm – Welcome Lunch/Dinner

 

Wednesday, December 28th – Team meeting, Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper (PARENTS INVITED TO ATTEND) , and Shagging Time-Slot.
Parents are 100% welcomed in the Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper – NOT the team meetings.
TEAM MEETINGS & Location
You will meet your Head Coach at the Diamond Club Entrance and walk as a team to the visitor’s clubhouse (PLAYERS ONLY).
4:30pm to 5:00pmAmerican League – Visitors Clubhouse – Coach Phil Hiatt
5:00pm to 5:30pmNational League – Visitors Clubhouse – Coach Corbin Weeks
MENTAL STRENGTH SESSION & Marlins Media Room
5:45pm player Check in Marlins Media Room
6:00pm to 7:00pm – Mental Strength Session
Players will be escorted from the media room to the field by their coaches
7:15pm to 10:15pm SHAGGING – three-hour time-slot

 

Thursday, December 29th – Home Run Derby
13U & 14U POWER SHOWCASE HOME RUN DERBY PRELIMINARY ROUND & Mental Strength Session with Michael Cooper – Marlins Media Room
During the preliminary round, each participant will receive 15 outs with the bat of their choice. The field dimensions for the 13U is 300ft-300ft-300ft and for the 14U is 300ft-325ft-300ft. The 13U age group will hit first, while the 14U group shaggs. The 14U group will hit immediately following. The pitching machine will be set at a velocity of 60 mph from 54 feet.

The leaderboard in left field will highlight the top three in each group.
Players will check-in with Coach Jerry Gonzalez in the third base dugout.
The top two finalists will advance to the Championship Round on December 30th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
*WILDCARD: If a Player hits the furthest Home Run and does not finish in the top two, then he will also advance to the finals.

Preliminary Round POWER SHOWCASE Home Run Derby
7:30am to 7:45am – Player Check-in with Eddie & Jerry Gonzales at the Third base dugout.
8:00am to 8:30am – Player Introductions
8:45amNational Anthem performed by EDEN HEBRON
9:00am to 12:00pm – 13U/14U POWER SHOWCASE Preliminary Round – It is MANDATORY that all player’s shagg and catchers catch during the derby.

 

Friday, December 30th – Game
13U/14U All-American Game9:00am to 12:00pm (three-hour time limit)
OFFENSIVE MVP ANNOUNCED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GAME

Coaches, kindly have your line-up cards filled out and ready to be handed in one hour before your scheduled game time. Josh Turner will be by to retrieve it from you.
Players get loose (pitchers/catchers & coach to bullpen)
7:30am to 8:00am – Player Check in with your Head Coach in your assigned dugout and get loose
National First base dugout – Head Coach Corbin Weeks – Hand in Line-up cards to PA & Marlins Staff
American Third base dugout – Head Coach Phil Hiatt – Hand in Line-up cards to PA & Marlins Staff
